Training topics for Northern Ireland teams
Use these topics to plan the training your team needs. The final modules and exercises are agreed in your written scope. A finance team practises on spreadsheets, commentary and reporting, checking every figure against its source. A sales team works on call notes and follow-up emails.
AI foundations for your team
Who it’s for: anyone using AI at work for the first time, from the front desk to the board. No technical background needed.
What people practise: writing clear instructions, improving a weak answer, checking facts, sums and sources, and knowing what must never go into an unapproved tool. We also cover how copyright, confidentiality and data protection affect everyday use.
Scope and price: agreed after a short conversation about your team, tools and goals.
ChatGPT for business
Who it’s for: teams already using ChatGPT, or about to buy accounts for staff.
What people practise: writing reusable instructions, sharing them across the team and checking a draft before a customer sees it. More on ChatGPT training below.
Scope and price: agreed after a short conversation about your team, tools and goals.
Microsoft Copilot training
Who it’s for: businesses on Microsoft 365.
What people practise: Copilot in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams, and how SharePoint and OneDrive permissions affect what Copilot can use for each person. Microsoft says using Copilot Chat “doesn’t require a Microsoft 365 Copilot license”, so staff on an eligible Microsoft 365 plan can start practising before you buy the add-on licence. Full details: Microsoft Copilot training in Northern Ireland.
Scope and price: agreed after a short conversation about your team, tools and goals.
AI sales training
Who it’s for: sales and business development teams.
What people practise: lead research and enrichment, drafting emails and LinkedIn messages, and building workflows that feed your CRM. Full details: AI sales training.
Scope and price: agreed after a short conversation about your team, tools and goals.
AI briefing for owners and leadership teams
Who it’s for: directors and managers deciding where AI should and shouldn’t be used.
What people practise: mapping where AI could help, agreeing what staff may and may not do, naming an owner for each tool and deciding how to judge results. Pair it with our AI policy template.
Scope and price: agreed after a short conversation about your team, tools and goals.
Training on a system we build for you
Who it’s for: the people who will run an agent or workflow we have built.
What people practise: using the system, checking its output, pausing it and keeping it running. This training is scoped as part of the build. See AI implementation services.
Scope and price: agreed after a short conversation about your team, tools and goals.
ChatGPT training for business
Buying ChatGPT accounts is the easy part. Getting a whole team to use it in the same careful way is harder. Five useful topics to discuss when scoping ChatGPT training are:
- Safe use. What ChatGPT does well, where it gets things wrong, and which client, HR and financial details stay out of it. We match the rules to the ChatGPT plan and settings your business uses. UK teams also get a pointer to the ICO’s guidance on AI and data protection.
- Instructions that work. A simple pattern: the context, the task, the limits and the check.
- Your own tasks. Use approved or synthetic examples of the tasks the team actually performs, with confidential details removed where appropriate.
- Review before anything goes out. Our starting rule for anything a customer will see: AI writes the draft, a person signs it off.
- Shared instructions. Reusable instructions for the jobs you do every week, so a new starter works from the same method as everyone else.
Here is an illustrative exercise to try with a team.
A weak request: “Reply to this complaint.”
A better one: “You’re replying for a family-run kitchen supplier in Derry. The customer’s worktop arrived two days late. Apologise once, confirm the new fitting date of Thursday, give our direct number and keep it under 120 words. Plain English, no exclamation marks.”
Then the check, which matters more than the prompt. Is Thursday right? Have we promised anything the fitters can’t deliver? Does it sound like us?

In-house AI training for your team
In-house training is built around your tools, your documents and your rules. Here is how it runs.
- Free 15-minute call. Tell us who needs training, which tools they use and what you want to change.
- Written scope and price. We agree the people, topics, format and dates. You get a written quote with the price, what’s included and the timetable before any work starts.
- Preparation. We build exercises from your own tasks and documents without exposing confidential material.
- Delivery. The written scope confirms the session format, location, length and group arrangements.
- Follow-up. Agree any follow-up help, materials and review dates in the scope.
Before we start, send us a short list: the tasks that take too long, the tools people use and your rules on client data.
Who delivers the training
Our team page introduces the people behind Blue Canvas. The written scope identifies the delivery arrangements for your programme.
You can read about our cross-function AI training work in the Farmvet Systems / VetIMPRESS case study. It covers staff across marketing, finance, administration, business development and engineering. These different roles are a useful reminder to match examples to the people in the room.
AI courses and training in the Republic of Ireland
We run AI training in Ireland as well as the North, mostly remotely. We price in pounds sterling, and your quote sets out the currency, VAT and payment terms for an Irish business.
For businesses in the Republic, training also has a legal side. Article 4 of the EU AI Act introduced AI literacy duties from 2 February 2025. Its current text requires providers and deployers to support staff AI literacy in a way that fits their knowledge and the use context, without guaranteeing a particular level for every individual. Our AI consultants in Ireland page explains who counts as a deployer.
The practical step is a short record for each session: who attended, which tools it covered, which data rules were explained and the date. This is not legal advice. Check your own position with an adviser.
When a course isn’t the answer
Training fixes gaps in confidence and shared habits. It won’t fix a muddled process or choose your systems for you. If you need to map several workflows, connect data or build something, start with our AI readiness assessment. The next step after that is our AI audit, at a fixed price of £750. If training isn’t the fix, we’ll say so on the call.
We don’t promise grants. Invest NI Innovation Vouchers pay for work with a public sector knowledge provider, such as a university or college, and Invest NI lists working with a private sector provider as not eligible. So a voucher can’t pay for our training. Our Northern Ireland funding guide links to Invest NI’s own pages, so you can check the current rules yourself.

Make the learning stick after the session
Pick a few tasks before training and keep examples of their current quality and effort. After the session, ask people to complete a comparable task and check the output, not just whether they liked the course.
- Choose a practical champion. Give someone time to collect questions and share useful examples. The champion should have a route to IT and the data owner, not become an unofficial approver for everything.
- Match practice to the role. Junior staff need to understand and check the underlying work, not only produce a fluent answer. Managers need to define quality and decide which actions remain human.
- Keep a shared playbook. Record approved tools, reusable instructions, source checks and examples of mistakes. Update it when a tool or process changes.
- Review adoption and quality. Look at whether the task is actually easier, the corrections needed and who is still unsure. Login counts alone do not show business value.
Free self-study before paid training
You do not need a paid course just to explore the basics. Start with the University of Helsinki’s open online courses, including Elements of AI, or browse Microsoft Learn’s self-directed modules for the Microsoft tools you use. Check the current course page for access, account and credential conditions; learning materials and paid certification are different things.
Use synthetic or public information for practice. Choose one small exercise, verify its answer and write down what you learned. Bespoke training becomes more useful when a team needs shared rules, role-specific practice and a consistent way to check real work.
FAQ
Can one person enquire about training?
Yes. Tell us the tool, task and support you need. This page is an enquiry hub, with training quoted around an agreed scope. It does not list public course dates or sell seats.
How much does AI training cost?
We quote training after we agree a written scope. The price depends on team size, format and duration. Software and licence costs, such as ChatGPT or Copilot subscriptions, are separate.
Can you train our team on site?
Yes. We’re in Derry, and we run agreed sessions on site anywhere in Northern Ireland, Belfast included, or remotely. Most of our work is remote. On-site sessions further afield are agreed before work starts.
Do our staff need technical knowledge?
Tell us your team’s starting level during scoping. Practical business training can start with everyday tasks and does not require programming knowledge.
Do we need ChatGPT or Copilot licences before the training?
Not for a leadership briefing. For hands-on courses, people need access to the tool they will use at work, and we confirm what you have before we plan the exercises. Microsoft says using Copilot Chat doesn’t require a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence, so teams on an eligible Microsoft 365 plan can practise with it first.
How long does a course take?
The length depends on the topics, team size and starting knowledge. Your quote confirms the format, duration and timetable before you commit.
