How much does AEO cost in the UK and Ireland?

Reviewed against current official platform guidance. Examples and observed visibility are distinguished from commercial results.

AEO costs depend on the work included: an audit, changes to your website, continuing content improvements, monitoring or a combination. Ask for those costs separately before comparing the headline monthly fee.

At Blue Canvas, an AI visibility audit costs £750. Implementation starts from £1,750, quoted separately. Optional ongoing improvement starts from £750 a month. These are our service prices, not an estimate of what the whole market charges.

Prices are in GBP. Your written quote confirms the scope, total price, any applicable VAT, timing and payment terms. For a Republic of Ireland business, it also confirms the currency and tax treatment rather than assuming a sterling price is a fixed euro price.

Separate the three kinds of work

StageWhat you are buyingWhat needs clarifying
AuditA documented assessment of agreed pages, buyer questions and observed visibilityPage limits, platforms, sampling rounds, access, evidence and handover
ImplementationThe agreed content and technical changes, checked after releaseWhich pages, who publishes, design or development needs, and excluded work
Ongoing improvementRepeat checks, useful updates and a review of resultsFrequency, page allowance, reporting, tools, terms and how priorities change

An audit can identify a problem without including its repair. A monthly report can describe visibility without including content production. Neither arrangement is inherently wrong, but the quote should make the boundary obvious.

Blue Canvas's starting scope

Our fixed-price £750 visibility audit covers one business and one agreed market. We review up to ten priority website pages and ten agreed buyer questions across three agreed search surfaces, with two documented sampling rounds. You receive source and access findings, a prioritised written plan and a handover call.

This is a website visibility audit. It is separate from our workflow-focused AI audit, which examines how work moves through a business. If visibility is your concern, say so when booking.

Implementation from £1,750 is a separately scoped sprint covering up to five priority pages, relevant internal links, business information and agreed technical fixes. A complex rebuild, extensive custom development, external platform work and paid tools need their own scope. “Up to five” is a cap, not a reason to change pages that already serve customers well.

Optional ongoing work from £750 a month covers an agreed set of question checks, up to two material page improvements and a monthly review. The quote defines frequency and deliverables. It does not mean unlimited articles, daily checks across every AI product or guaranteed recommendations.

Why two quotes can be very different

A ten-page professional-services website presents a different job from a large catalogue with several languages, markets and publishing teams. A clear product offer also needs less discovery work than a business whose services and evidence are scattered across old documents.

  • Markets and languages: each adds questions, factual checks and local context.
  • Website condition: missing information is different from a rendering, access or migration problem.
  • Evidence: producing an original example takes more work than editing an existing, approved one.
  • Publishing arrangements: some changes require a developer, legal reviewer or external agency.
  • Monitoring: the number of questions, platforms and repeated checks affects effort and tool costs.

Published supplier prices illustrate the variety, rather than a market average. On 27 October 2026, built by humans advertised a service from £700 plus VAT a month, with its own monitoring and content allowances. Compare the deliverables and terms directly; a similar fee does not mean an equivalent package.

Put each supplier's answer beside these questions. Mark a missing answer as “not specified”, rather than filling the gap with an assumption.

QuestionRecord from the quote
What is included?Pages, markets, questions, platforms, checks and meetings
Who makes the changes?Supplier, your team or another developer; publication included or separate
What costs extra?Tools, design, development, content, research and third-party fees
What will we own?Copy, edited pages, evidence, reports and account access
What is the commercial commitment?Setup fee, recurring fee, applicable tax, term and cancellation provisions
How will success be reviewed?Delivery checks, visibility observations, referrals and qualified enquiries

Calculate the commitment before signing

For your chosen review period, add the audit, implementation, monthly fees, third-party charges and internal staff time. Keep recoverable tax treatment separate where relevant. For example, our £750 audit plus a £1,750 implementation starting price totals £2,500 before any applicable VAT or agreed extras. Adding three months at the £750 monthly starting price brings that example to £4,750.

That arithmetic describes a possible cost combination, not a required package or a revenue forecast. Use the AEO break-even worksheet to test whether your customer economics justify the spend.

Choose the smallest useful first step

If you cannot yet name the buyer questions, affected pages or evidence gaps, start with an assessment. If you already have a credible plan, ask for an implementation quote against it. See what a useful visibility audit checks, or review our AEO service and book a first call.
