Introducing three free tools from Blue Canvas

We're introducing three free websites built and run by Blue Canvas: Cricket Bat Size Guide, DrainSurveyCost and Gambling Complaints.

They cover very different subjects, but each starts with a question someone needs help answering. What size bat should I try? What should a drain survey quote include? How do I prepare a clear complaint?

All three are live. Here is what you can use them for, where to start and what they do not claim to do.

Cricket Bat Size Guide: find a sensible starting size

Buying a cricket bat can mean navigating junior sizes, Harrow, Short Handle and different makers' charts. Cricket Bat Size Guide, also called BatFit, brings those checks together for players and parents.

Enter the player's height in centimetres or feet and inches to see a starting recommendation, without creating an account. The size-chart guide lets visitors compare published maker guidance and understand why the answer can differ between brands.

Height is only the beginning. The site also explains weight and pickup, junior sizing and bat care. The recommendation is a size to try, not a guarantee that a particular bat will suit the player.

Try this first: enter a height, compare the maker guidance, then use the weight and pickup checks before buying. For a younger player, start with the junior bat guide.

DrainSurveyCost: prepare a better quote request

A headline drain survey price does not tell you everything. The report, footage, mapping, access arrangements and possible extras can change what you are actually buying.

DrainSurveyCost helps homeowners prepare before booking a CCTV drain survey. Its seven-question checklist turns the visitor's answers into a request they can copy or print and send to contractors. No contact details are needed to get that result.

Once replies arrive, the quote comparison tool puts two or three quotes side by side. It covers VAT, reports, video, mapping, extras and delivery times. Missing details stay visible as questions to ask, rather than being treated as included in the price.

Try this first: prepare one request, send it to the firms you choose, then compare their written replies on the same basis.

Gambling Complaints: prepare your next step

Gambling Complaints, presented on the site as Gambling Complaint Support, is a free guidance project for people trying to understand and prepare a complaint.

The site starts with situations a visitor may recognise, including a delayed withdrawal, an account closed with money remaining, or concerns that signs of gambling harm were ignored. Its complaint guides help people identify questions to ask and records to keep. Visitors can read without registering or sharing their documents.

The complaint guidance is labelled for Great Britain. Separate support signposting also covers Northern Ireland and Ireland; the site does not present every complaints process as the same across these places.

Try this first: choose the guide that matches the issue, then review the records guidance. Support is available through the help page whether or not someone wants to make a complaint.

This is not a regulator, law firm or emergency service. The site does not send complaints, decide fault or promise a refund.

What these projects show about our work

A useful website should leave its visitor better equipped to do something. Across these projects, the output might be a size to try, a clearer quote request or a set of records to gather.

That means making different choices for each audience. A sports tool needs quick comparisons. A survey tool needs to expose missing information. A complaint guide needs calm language and clear limits. Giving them the same template and tone would miss the point.

These are examples of Blue Canvas's website and digital product work alongside our AI training and automation services. Not every useful tool needs an AI model: a clear calculation, a guided checklist or well-organised information may be the right answer.
